This past weekend I went to Valdosta to help a buddy build a DVD cabinet to hold some where in the range of 500-600 DVDs. I have been working on the plan for the past few weeks. What I came up with is a book case of sorts that has three 2’ sections. The two side shelves are 6 deep and the center is 8 deep. This gives it a better look than if it were all one equal depth. I also made the center section 4 inches higher than the two ends to add some more detail to the DVD case. Overall I would conceder this project a success but I did learn some valuable lessons.
1. When using particle board always go over ½ an inch.
2. Don’t trust that the boards in the store are straight.
3. Don’t leave your power tools outside during a rain storm.
4. It really stinks have to buy a 8’ piece of trim for a 2 section b/c the first board was too short.
5. Paint hides pretty much all mistakes
6. 800mg ibuprofen is awesome when your back hurts.
Here is a picture of the final product.
